You Are What You Eat

Did you know that your body completely replaces every single one of its cells about once every seven years?  Quantum physics and the fact that who we are is obviously not the stuff of which we are made aside, your body has to get the raw materials to replace those cells from somewhere.  It stands to reason that these raw materials are obtained through what you eat.

Quite literally, you are what you eat.

With any luck, this has you starting to think about just what you eat on a day to day basis.  "Maybe I shouldn't have had that McDonald's cheeseburger or those deep-fried Oreos after all (which I did this weekend)..."  While cutting out highly processed foods is something we should all seek to do, I wish I could tell you that was all you had to do to give your body the right materials to regenerate.  I wish it was as easy as just upping your intake of fruits and vegetables.  Unfortunately, we live in dark times with powerful entities who care more about profit than your health.

Enter: The genetically modified organism.

There's a corporation you've probably heard of called Monsanto.  They deserve an article all their own, so I won't get into them here.  The bottom line is that they're responsible for  the creation of two variants of genetically modified crops: Roundup Ready and BT.  The vast majority of the staple foods in America today (corn, soy, etc.) are comprised of these genetically modified crops.  If you believe the official story, these crops "...help farmers grow yield sustainably so they can be successful, produce healthier foods, better animal feeds and more fiber, while also reducing agriculture's impact on our environment."

Roundup is an herbicide that is used to kill weeds.  Roundup works by blocking an organism's access to nutrients.  In essence, Roundup starves plants to death.

Here's where it gets bad.

Monsanto once found a strain of bacteria growing in a vat of their Roundup chemical.  Apparently, they thought it would be a good idea to isolate the gene that allowed this bacteria to survive and splice it into most of the corn and soy that is grown today.  This allows the crops to survive being sprayed, and they are sprayed judiciously.  Due to the nature of Roundup, these plants are devoid of a significant amount of nutritional value.  What is left instead is a "food" full of poisons and chemicals.  Roundup, by the way, has been linked directly to a myriad of health risks, including diabetes, autism, obesity, heart disease, cancer and more.

Far from "reducing agriculture's impact on our environment," the widespread use of Roundup Ready crops has led to the mass infusion of poison into the soil.  Obviously, this is creating problems with the future potential to produce food.  And despite Monsanto's claim of "growing yields," an objective look at the situation shows that not only do they not increase yields, but in some cases, they decrease them.

BT crops, on the other hand, were designed to combat the issue of pest infestation.  BT crops do not need to be sprayed with pesticide.  They don't need to be sprayed with pesticide because they produce their own. The pesticides produced by these crops cause insects' stomachs to explode when they eat them, killing the insect.  Now how could that possibly go wrong when a human eats it?

Well, as it turns out, there's a reason we have seen huge increases in food allergies since the GM experiment began, especially among children.  The pesticide that causes insects to explode from the inside out also causes holes in the intestinal walls of humans.  Food that has not been completely digested then leaks into the body.  Naturally, the body reacts by producing antibodies to attack these food bits, and congratulations!  You have a new food allergy!

Here's where it gets horrifying.

Recent studies have shown that when we eat, we don't just consume the physical components that make up our food.  We consume the information that is contained in that foods DNA.  Our bodies use this information when they regenerate cells.

Let that sink in for a minute.

What does this mean?  In short, it means every time you eat a genetically modified organism, you become just a little bit less human.  In fact, consuming BT vegetables causes the bacteria in your intestines to produce pesticides that then attack your central nervous system.  The effects this has on developing children and fetuses is only beginning to be understood, but can already be seen by the sharp increases in childhood cancer, ADHD, autism, and mental development rates.  As a side note, these "crops" were implemented without any serious scientific studies being done to assess their risks, all in the name of profit.

Probably the most common defense of GM crops comes from "scientists" (often on the Monsanto payroll) who say "Humans have been genetically modifying crops for thousands of years!"  This is patently false.  Humans have been using cross-pollination and hybridization for thousands of years.  This is a process that occurs in nature, and it is no different from genetically diverse dogs who interbreed.  GM crops are created by forcibly combining DNA from entirely different species that would never have been able to reproduce in the wild.  Modern GM crops could be compared to Humans interbreeding with dogs - it simply can't happen, and if it did, the result would be an abomination.

While being vigilant about what you put into your body is a great start, the GM experiment (of which you are a lab rat) will not end until We the People stand up and put an end to it.  This has already started in a big way thanks to the phenomenally successful March Against Monsanto, and GM crops are already being outright banned in many other countries.  Where they are still legal to grow and sell, consumers are beginning to reject them.  It is up to us to stop this horrific destruction of the human race and environment by a small group of dominant people.

Stay tuned: We'll be getting into the corporation that wants to own you and control the world next.

  1. On this topic we almost entirely agree. I am familiar with virtually everything that you posted here. Which is not to devalue your blog entry, on the contrary I am glad that it is available and so concisely written. But in something of a response to your response on another blog, I am letting you know that I do digging on my own ;)

I don't know if you knew that I had become vegan, and have been for over 3.5 years now... But this was meant I became keenly interested in nutrition and things that I put into my body. perhaps this is even a conversation that we had at CRDA...? Actually I am pretty glad that this has become something of interest to you! Have you looked into the "Non-GMO Project"? Silk brand products post their commitment to avoiding GMOs on most or all of their packaging. So I vote with my wallet and buy more Silk. Fuck Monstanto.

The only critique I have for this is that the correlational studies on food allergies are actually pretty weak. While it is entirely possible, and even likely, that GM foods contribute to this issue, I would caution toward parsimony with the conclusions that can be gleaned from such weak research. This is like food and autism bullshit. There is no hard evidence ANYWHERE to suggest that casein or gluten have a fucking thing to with autism. The research supporting that hypothesis is less than weak, it's nonsense.

    1. Of course I remember you going Vegan - we had some Vegan movie parties, remember? You might like to know - I'm totally hooked on hummus now :)

I try to tell everybody now to be very aware of what they put into themselves. Read that ingredient label! If you can't pronounce it, or it says "High Fructose Corn Syrup" or "Cellulose Gum (sawdust)," don't buy it. I have heard of the Non-GMO project and have actually been in direct contact with them to ask a few questions. They seem to be a decent bunch of people!

The study on the spike in food allergies was more to demonstrate that there has, in fact, been a spike in food allergies. Adequate research has yet to be done to determine its source (and is being blocked by Monsanto, of course), so I point out the known facts (food allergies are on the rise, BT crops cause holes in your intestines that food then leaks out of) and let you draw your own conclusion or research further.

Interesting tidbit of information in relation to autism: There are documented cases of children with autism becoming completely symptom free after switching to a fully organic (non-GMO) diet. Another interesting tidbit of autism information: My wife has personally seen 5 different children who went from bright-eyed and apparently intelligent to autistic after getting their childhood vaccines. Seems like too much of a coincidence to be ignored to me.
